This FREE course has been designed to address some of the issues that have arisen since the COVID-19 outbreak and assist individuals through this period addressing personal and social development needs. The course will maximise opportunities  to improve and develop personal skills to enable individuals to move forward post restrictions to achieve new or existing goals.

Due to the current COVID restrictions, the course will be delivered on an online basis consisting of 3 modules enabling progression towards a full level 1 qualification. The Modules are:  Effective Communication Skills, Assertiveness and Managing Time. The course will be a  combination of online tutorials, work to be completed and submitted to the tutor with feedback given. There will also be a 1-2-1 tutorial session each week for approximately ten minutes for each learner.

Learners can participate in this course without undertaking Time for Change – Part 1 but both courses will  need to be taken in order to gain the qualification.

Learning objectives include:

  • Explain what is meant by effective communication.
  • Develop own communication skills.
  • Explain what is meant by assertiveness
  • Recognise assertive behaviour in a range of situations.
  • Improve and develop own assertiveness skills and abilities.
  • Explain the importance of managing own time.
  • Develop  skills and strategies to improve own time management ability.
  • Identify how to access support when experiencing time problems.

This course is aimed at learners aged 19+ who are unemployed, or on a  low income or who would develop from Personal and Social Development.

The course will run for 3 weeks – every Thursday and Friday- from 4th February to 26 February 2021
