Learn the basic skills, knowledge and language around health and social care and gain a recognised qualification.

Learning outcomes include:

  • Describe 3 jobs within HSC & CYPS and explain the knowledge, skills and progression routes for them.
  • Explain the difference between statutory and independent care and describe how informal care contributes to service provision
  • Outline the importance of safe moving and handling principles.
  • Outline employers and workers responsibilities for health and safety.
  • Describe the principles and values that underpin work in health and social care and explain how you can demonstrate that you value service users.
  • Outline 4 types of HSC guidance and standards.
  • Give examples of hazards and their associated risks and explain when a risk assessment is necessary.
  • Identify accidents and sudden illness that may occur in a health, social care, children’s or young peoples setting

The course will run weekly – every Thursday from 4th November to 9th December 2021

To be eligible for this course, you must be an adult  19+ (on 1.8.21)  with few or no formal qualifications. Suitable for adults with English skills at Level 1 plus.
