This course offers a City & Guilds Award at Level 1 in Horticulture. The course runs at Blaise Plant Nursery which is a horticulture centre and provides a therapeutic environment in which to study. Learners will engage with the practical and theory in horticulture and have progression opportunities toward a L2 Certificate in Horticulture and be provided with advice/resources from a job/careers coach.

Learning outcomes include:

• Prepare soil and apply organic mulch.
• Sow seeds.
• Look after your plants as they grow.
• Recognise and identify various weeds and other plants.
• Become familiar with some key horticultural terms.
• Develop employability skills relevant to horticulture.

This course will take place on Tuesdays – 6th October 2026 – 12th January 2027

This course is open to learners with few or no qualifications aged 19 years plus (in August ’26) who may want a career in Horticulture
