A bespoke course for ESOL learners to develop their literacy, speaking and listening skills, including reading, writing, spelling, punctuation and grammar whilst working towards attending an accredited course. It can be used in conjunction with an ESOL conversation course for additional speaking practice.

Learning Outcomes:

• Attend class every week and on time
• Use the Padlet on their phones/devices to access learning and homework.
• Find basic information in a text
• Build on vocabulary spelling some common and personal words correctly (from the Dolch list).
• Start ordering words using letters of the alphabet.
• Attempt to use full stops and capital letters correctly.
• Complete a form using upper/lower case letters and personal details correctly.
• Share ideas and opinions more than once in a group discussion
• Improve use of grammar including subject verb agreement and simple present tenses, identify and use a verb and a noun.
• Keep a notebook for writing homework, new words/spelling and bring it to every session.

This course will take place on Tuesdays 15th September 2026 – 8th December 2026

This course is open to learners with few or no qualifications aged 19 years plus (in August ’26)
