This is a friendly 12-week course that will support you to learn and improve techniques and strategies for studying functional skills English

Learning Outcomes:

• Identify and extract the main information and detail from short explanations
• Understand the main points of text
• Use effective strategies to find the meaning of words and check their spelling e.g. simple dictionary, spell check
• Use basic punctuation correctly e.g. full stops, capital letters, question marks, exclamation marks
• Use adjectives and simple linking words in the appropriate way
• Write in compound sentences and paragraphs where appropriate

This course will take place on Tuesdays – 15th September 2026 – 8th December 2026

This course is open to learners with few or no qualifications aged 19 years plus (in August ’26)
