This course is aimed at learners who want to improve their digital skills and feel more confident about using computers and the internet. Students will learn how to use the internet safely, find information on line, set up an email account and learn about other activities they can do , for example banking and shopping. Students will also learn how to create and edit a word document.

Learner objectives include:

  • To know how to use the internet safely including making online searches.
  • To feel more confident about using a computer independently.
  • To know how to set up an email account and send emails.
  • To learn how to create and edit a word document and use basic Microsoft Office skills.
  • To understand how to use social media platforms safely.
  • To be able to fill in a form on line.
  • To develop a practical skill to use the internet for a specific purpose, for example shopping or banking.
  • To research relevant information services available on line.

This course is open to learners (aged 19+) who are lacking the knowledge and skills to access digital technologies independently.

The course will run weekly – every Tuesday – from 6th October to 1st December 2020
