Anyone in Bristol or North Somerset can now fill out a form online and get access to a month for free bus travel for their birthday:
Birthday Bus – Free bus travel – West of England Combined Authority (westofengland-ca.gov.uk)
Starting in August 2023, if you live in the West of England Mayoral Combined Authority or North Somerset Council region, you will receive a free month of bus travel throughout your birthday month.
To create your birthday bus pass, please have the following to hand before starting your application:
- Passport-style photo
- If you are under 18, or applying for your child: proof of age
- A clear picture of your passport or birth certificate, or if you’re over 16, a picture of your driving licence (full or provisional). A letter from an authorised professional that has known you more than 2 years will also be accepted. This will need to confirm your name, address and age.

To enjoy free travel for the whole of your birthday month, apply as soon as possible and at least 7 days before the first day of your birthday month. You can still apply in your birthday month, right up to the 15th, and get a pass for the rest of that month.
