About 30 employers from all parts of the sector are expected to attend the fair, with hundreds of jobs, apprenticeships and work experience placements on offer.

Confirmed attendees include The Bristol, St Monica Trust, Ikea, Wogan’s Coffee and Bristol Hippodrome.

As well as opportunities for people wanting to make a career in the catering and hospitality industry, many employers will be looking to fill additional vacancies leading up to the Christmas break.

There will also be advisors on hand to offer help and support with training courses and careers information.

The event has been organised by Bristol City Council, City of Bristol College, Department of Work and Pensions (DWP), Josh Eggleton from the Pony and Trap, Romy Gill MBE from Romy’s Kitchen, St Monica Trust and The Bristol.

Shelby King, Human Resources Manager of The Bristol, will open the fair at 10.30am. This will be followed by a couple of short talks about the food and drink scene in Bristol and throughout the morning students from City of Bristol College will be cooking tasters for visitors.

Councillor Claire Hiscott, cabinet member for education and skills
“There is a thriving food and drink sector in Bristol, with a variety of work on offer in outlets ranging from independent coffee shops, pubs, takeaways, bistros and award-winning restaurants to hotels, staff canteens, care homes, hospitals and wholesale suppliers.

“With hundreds of vacancies on offer and even more available in the run up to Christmas, this fair provides a great opportunity for anyone looking for a job, an apprenticeship, training or work experience in the rapidly growing hospitality sector.

“The fair is an excellent and practical way to help people talk to a number of employers all under one roof.   It helps to break the ice and can lead to job interviews and offers of work.”

Councillor Claire Hiscott, cabinet member for education and skills

The fair takes place at The Bristol Hotel, Prince Street, Bristol BS1 4QF on Monday 3 October, from 10.30am-1.30pm.
