Introduction to Sports Coaching

Focus of this course will include: basic communication skills for leading a sporting activity, types of motivation and the use of them in sports activities, lots of fun activities/games that can be used for warm ups and adapted for sessions, how to adapt games and activities to target various abilities and planning, preparing and assisting a simple sporting activity. The aim of the course is to give learners the skills needed to run simple sports activities within a community setting. Learning objectives include:

  • Lead a small group in a sports activity
  • Identify and list three risks related to sports activities
  • Identify two follow-on sports qualifications

This course is aimed anyone that might want to get into activity leadership and coaching.

The course is one 6-hour session taking place Wednesday 14th February 2018
