Cooking Connections: Next Steps

A hands-on cookery course for people who would like learn how to prepare and cook healthy meals for themselves and theirs friends and family. This course will also focus on what working within the food industry would entail and some practical work experience at the Park Café.  The aim of the course is to give the learners a view of what working in catering/food might be like, discussing Health & Safety within a kitchen environment & a shift of work experience. Learning objectives include:

  • Use a recipe to prepare a meal
  • Cook a meal from scratch
  • Explore what working in catering might mean
  • Talk about Health & Safety in the workplace
  • Complete a shift of work experience
  • Use a knife safely using the ‘bridge’, ‘claw’ and ‘cross-chop’ techniques

This course is aimed at learners aged 19+ years that are interested in employment in the food/catering industry.

The course will run on a weekly basis for 10 weeks ending 29th June 2018
